4th is 1:1 in the trannies we're dealing with.

With 235/45/17 and 4.10's I'm spinning 3200 @ 70 with a w58. It's s fun combo, 3.90's would be better overall to keep my combo in the sweet spot but it works as is.

My end game involves a 3sge backed by a 6 speed. Screw this tractor engine stuff.

Yup. It's a huge misconception that most of our own guys think that shoving a 5spd in gives them overdrive.
The 4spd's 4th gear is the overdrive.

Can't imagine how fun it is to rip through the gears but I did a lot of highway driving up here in NorCal.

On the Supra, my 5th gear is the 1:1, 6th is a .793, and the rear end is a 3.133.
Splitting it up with 6 gears is nice. I'm in a sweet range of power the whole time and I get to cruise along the highway at 60mph churning 2000RPM (With 315/30/18s).
    3000RPM is roughly 90mph
    3500RPM is roughly 110mph
4000RPM my second turbo is online and I'm already pushing past 120mph lol

Forgot how lazy and easy it is to speed in this car.

The gearing of the 370Z 6spd transmission is very similar to the one in my Supra.
I'll be going IRS from the 1998 SC400 and that gives me a 3.266 final drive.

I'd like to make the truck just as comfortable and easy to drive like the Supra lol.

    I can't go back, 6spd got me :D

The 4 speed doesn't have an overdrive gear. It is 1:1. It came with an 8" rear axle because 3.07 gears weren't available in 7.5" to allow the rig to travel on the highway. I stuffed a w45 in my 78 with 4.10's. The drive home was fun, 4000 rpm, speedo said 100 pmh gps said 60.

If you find a source for 3.42 diff or any other gearing higher than stock 4.10 I'd like to know, my truck screams at 65mph and I'd love lower RPMs for cruising.

I have an 8" v6 axle for sale right now with 3.42 gears. Been sitting in the for sale section for a couple of months.

Ebay can be a decent source for them. Search for toyota 3rd members, and go to the description of each one. you'll eventually find a 3.42, and possibly some other great ratios. The 3.73 ain't bad either, a decent mix between highway cruising and acceleration on a stock engine
