Hallo everyone. My name is Dennis. I live in Denmark and I bought a 1985 Toyota Hilux 2wd Diesel (2L). Her name is Hilda. I bought her 16th of september 2015. On this first image she is lowered thith 3" belltach blocks and cranced torsion. The belltech u-bolts broke. I realised that the axle tube is 65mm (2.56") and the Beltech u-bolts are 3". So this would make a high strees point at the top of the u-bolt arch (witch is exactly where thay broke) I am looking into lowering springs instead. Also I drive her for 90km every day so the negative camber I introduced by crancking the torsionbars realy eat up tires fast. I am looking into drop spindels and a BJ flip to correct this. She is raised back up to stock height for now with some 16x7 Dotz Dakar rims. ET13, 195/65-16 continental light truck tires. The oildrums in the back is a danish tradition. If someone is unmaried at theire 30th birthday they get a pressent called a "pepper mill" from there closest friends. In the old days they were sculpures looking like a pepper mill. Today they can be anything as long as they are big, flashy steel sculptures. The two tires in the back are my spares. Have a nice day everyone. Dennis
How easy would it B 2 get spare engine prts 4 that diesel. It may B the same motor in a '83 near here I may buy... (different country but no other responses). I thought they were only in '81 - '83... Check ur casting numbers on the motor, VIN tag etc to assure urself of yr. make...
Well. I live in europe. More specifically in Denmark. Almost all Hiluxes sold here are diesels and has been always. These engines also came in Toyota Dynas and Hiaces. Witch for for decades has been some of the most popular workhorses here. So at least to me engine spareparts are not an issue. The only problem is bodyparts. They have all succumbed to rust or exported to eastern europe, the middle east or Afrika. This is the original engine. Dennis
Trucker Dee, glad 2 C a 16 inch tire/wheel combo fits. Looks like lrger can go 2. (not inta lowering but that's just personal taste). I've not purchased a local '83 diesel (2.2L) but am @ research phase. I understand U can get body panels from LMC ( pretty well known co.)here USA. Let me know if U need assistance w/this - [email protected]
Can folks tell me if the extra length is added to the end or is the wheel base lengthened too? (the earlier USA diesel is 2.2L)
Thank you chrlsful. I can't go taller on the tires in the front with the 2" drop I am running now. I am rubbing a bit on bumps. But stock height as shown on the pics do fine. Wheel base is lengthened too.
