    Hey guys so i have a 73 Hilux. When my headlights are OFF, the tail lights seem to function properly, but once my headlights are ON, the tail lights seem to malfunction. When I have my headlights on, when I'm cruising, my BRAKE lights are ON, and when I decide to step on my brakes, my cruising lights(yellow ones) seem to go on, so the yellow and red lights seem to have swapped!

    I double checked all the connectors in the rear and they seem to be connected to the right spots I think i might be having some issues with the Relay or some sort of ground issue.
    Has anyone had this issue or might know what it might be?
    I need help ASAP!
    Thanks.:shrug::shrug:

    sounds crossed to me too -- perhaps the unit that senses when you apply brakes? brake light switch/pedal position sensor/whatchamacallit

    Most likely a missing ground. Circuits do strange things and back feed when ungrounded.

    i know the bulbs are only supposed to go in the socket one way, but pull them out and see if you can flip em. The brake switch has 4 wires to it but only 2 control the brake lights(hot in/hot out when pressed) might not be that.

    Hell pull the whole tail light out and clean up the body parts where the housing meets the body, these lights ground thru themselves. It helped mine out when i was rewiring my truck
