overhauling rates?

    Ok guys need some help im overhauling a motor for
    a customer and i would like to know wat u guys rates
    are for labor ?

    In reality...

    Machine shop will charge about $250-300 to do the head. And it will at the least need the valves ground and new seals.

    The blocks rarely need decked, just cleaned up and bored, have them check the linebore on the crank.

    Prob about $200 or so on the block. Plus your rebuild kit, you know how much that costs.

    So Id say $1200 out the door. Then they will say, well "on ebay..."

    Well in that case let them go ahead and fool with ebay. Ive been on both sides of the fence. Its best to do it urself or know the guy who did. Its like the other day when I went to Lowes and bought a bbq grill. They said we got em already put together for an extra $20...I said nope, I can save money and know that every bolt is tight if I do it myself.

    The cheapest shop around here charges $70 an hour for labor. Some are as much as $120.
