Hi, I just aquired a 94 flatbed (texan truck body) 2.4l rwd with dually rear end. Anyone know about it? Is the rear a oem piece or aftrmkt? Mfg? Any help would be great. pics:http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l498/rickfoot1/001.jpg http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l498/rickfoot1/003.jpg Thanks,Rick
That looks very much like an adapter setup on a stock 1/2 ton axle. If it were a full floating (true 1-ton) it would have the hubs protruding into the center of the outer wheel (like a 4wd front hubs). This was a common thing on the motor homes that used the toyota chassis before 1987 and resulted in enough failed outer axle bearings to spark a recall. I would be very suspicious of using that with a heavy load. Remove the wheels and check to see if there is an adapter in there, bolted to a standard 5-lug axle. Not to rain on your parade, but that may be one of the worst things that could be done to a Toy truck. If you want pics of the real 1-ton axle just google it, there is ton's of information about the proper parts for heavy loads.
