I have a 1.8L 22r head going on a lazer block do I have to shave or do any machine work to the head or can I just put it on and not worry about anything

Is there any difference on a 1.8L and a 1.3L head?

Wierd. Never knew people go by the casting marks.

Afaik- 20r head (round intake ports, domed chamber)
20r head w power steering bosses (late 20r)

    22r head with square intakes,
22r lazer head (has a different deck heigh requirement)

So depends what block its going on.

You need the one with pear shaped exhaust ports. Otherwise it has to be machine to the correct thickness.

Nobody goes by the casting marks, too difficult compared to shape of ports..

the only difference I know of, other than casting marks and some mild cosmetics, is in the 2nd picture (intake side of 1.8), it has a U shaped coolant hole between the rear cylinders, versus a square on the 1.3.

As best I can tell neither appear to be turbo heads. If they both hold compression, either should be fine, barring any internal problems the photos don't reveal.

That hole between intake ports 3 and 4 is a deadend hole.. If you hold your intake to it without a gasket you'll notice it doesn't get covered. Put your finger in there and you can feel all the edges

Yeah that's the only difference on the intake parts from wat I'm always looking at....
How can u tell a turbo head from stock heads I know that the 1.3 came from a 90 but idk where the 1.8 came out of just got it off a friend

I don't have an intake to try it out but I'll try and borrow someone to try it.....why do u say it wouldn't get covered it looks the same just different by square and a U shape...

When I put in my 22r I had a mini heart attack when I just slipped the intake on.. The casting dips in between ports and doesn't cover the hole but the gasket does. Doesn't matter though as its a dead end hole..

I think the casting means version 1.3 and version 1.8..

    pretty sure our 20R/22R's aren't 1.3/1.8L's
