I need help with wiring . My 69 toy has been sitting for while . this is what I got: the negative from the starter is going to the alternator but at the same time there is a positive from the battery going to the same place does that even make Sence.
The starter should ground through the case to the motor. It would make sense if it was the starter positive wire, I've seen them go from the alternator to starter then to the battery.
still confused Sorry just trying to be couscous don't want to burn anything . So I followed the ground wire from the starter and it goes in the cab thru the passenger side and goes out the driver and its part of the harness and it goes to the alternator . My ? Is why would it go in thru the cab and come out the other Ireland part of the harness if its just a ground .
Did you check for voltage on that wire? It's typical to see a positive run from the alternator to the starter, then on to the battery. If it is landed on the same terminal on the starter as the positive from the battery, there is no way it can be a ground. Wire color means nothing when it comes to polarity, electricity doesn't care.
Litneon , thank you for your help you are correct . I guess it doesn't matter what color the wires are this one is black so I automatically thought it was a ground . Thank for your help
