There should be torque specs for the u bolt nuts, I'll check my manual when I get home, but my 85 is like 60-80 ft lbs. I believe.

You'll loosen the torsion bars, making them a softer spring, which will allow the weight of the truck to lower the front end.

Angled blocks should have the low side towards the front of the truck and the high side to the rear.

The tighter you go, the more spring you have and the opposite when you loosen the torsion bars.... You COULD loosen them all the way and ride around on your bump stops if you wanted to.

A good 2-3" lower with no bump stops, or cut bump stops is a bearable ride. The lower you go the less spring you have, and the worse the ride will be.

I always tighten my ubolts til they don't move anymore. They're probably way too tight but no issues. Lol.

awesome thanks man :waytogo: so when i lower my truck should i leave the front on the ground so the truck can lower its self when i loosen the bolts or what? or just slightly support it? whats the easiest way to do this? also how time consuming is it to install blocks and t-bar lower?

Whole project shouldn't take more than 4 hours with hand tools. Out the front frame on jack stands and let the suspension droop. That takes strain off the bolt making it easier to turn. Compare the drop by moving the nut up the bolt the same amount on both sides. My old 92 I took them until they were even with the crossmember but not hanging out. I trimmed my bumpstops down to hardly anything and it worked real well. Probably a solid 3" drop that way. I didn't measure. But had 3" blocks on that truck and it wasn't enough. So when I sold it I built my 78. Now I'm ready to sell it and build another old one.

Ill come lower your truck for you, but you gotta pay me in starions. :D

18 on my gauge right now not far from where blaster is. If he has a garage it shouldn't be too bad. Bolts might not be so fun to turn that cold but using heat could play that into his advantage

I'm staying inside where its warm, until I take a drive without a heater in my 78. Gotta make a store run, which is about 8 miles from my house. So its cold for everybody lol
