I totally agree 100% with nash. The term for my build is SportTruck as well. It's something fairly cheap and fun to build/drive everyday that can take a beating. On the other hand restoring Classics is where it's at and nothing will ever compare.
And just for the record, my original comment was just sarcasm. As long as people like us keep ours running, it'll never die. It just may not be as popular as it used to be. I get people commenting all the time about the work involved, how they used to have one and miss it, and would love to build another some day. Hopefully they will.
I said I was done with trucks in 2003 sold mine! I got into sportbikes! I always had a toyota truck lowered! I said I would never build another one! I use to build a lot of trucks and do a lot of work for my buddies! I got so burned out on putting all the time and effort in somebody else's ride and watching it drive away! I've had the sport truck and they are fun too! In my opinion there is nothing like the look of a toyota truck laying rockers on the ground. I'm glad to see so many toyota followers no matter mini or 4wd or hilux or whatever.
Everything you said, I could agree with. Most of it belongs to the manufacturers not pumping out smaller pickups anymore.
On the plus side, today I had at least ten people tell me I have a cool truck, ask about it; or one guy said he used to have a lowered 76 waaaay back when. Said he's doing a 79 D50 now. So I think for some people it'll never die. Me as one.
i love all types of rides and think the scene has its spurts but have noticed in my area its not what it once was in 2009,2010. no matter what ill always be into it. i love it with a passion even if i was the only one with a bagged and bd truck so be it
I've had a few people today tell me they want to get back into a Toyota pickup, haha I told them go for it!
