I have built a nice motor with all the LC Engineering bells and whistles. Once I get her put in the truck my next step is suspension. I was thinking about just replacing all the bushings and getting some nice like bilstein shocks. Maybe add a leaf in the rear to get a little rake. Any other suggestions like suspension kits? Thanks guys
What is your height goal when you're done? Lowered or just stiffer to handle the power? I have a built 20/22r and with my setup it hooks good. I pulled the center leaf, to run the main and overload. And 4.5" angled blocks. 215-45-17 tires. A 225 or 235 hooks alot better.
Get some new dampers and replace all your bushings. As for suspension with rake, do you want to lower it? I think one inch lower in the front would make it look just right instead of raising the rear, how about lowering the front a tiny bit?
A rake can be done with any drop. I have about an 8" front 7" rear drop combo. That combined with a bigger tire in the back gives it a nice muscle look.
Its going to be a ratrod. I'm going to clearcoat over the old paint. I want some wider tires and for it to handle less like a truck lol. I don't plan on taking many high speed turns but I don't want a loose suspension either
sounds like a moderate 3" drop front and rear be about what it sounds yer going for. a little lower to look and feel sporty but not too far to run into further issues. the stock suspension is fairly soft and i would recomend at least getting upgraded torsion bars up front... the front drop can be achieved by a few different ways. ball joint flip, rekeyed torsions, or even spindles. the rear can be easily done by adding either 3" blocks, or even using spring clamps to compress the leafs into the overload. the clamps will actually stiffen up the rear springs a bit and give you some better squat resistance. one other item i would consider is a rear sway bar kit to help in the corners if you feel you want a good response out of the rear.
flipping the ball joints is free then run some pinto front shocks. thatll give you a good drop up front without touching the torsions if your worried about it getting soft on you.
here you go I forgot other site, that I used but same concept, truck hooks like a beast...enjoy and happy building Traction 1
