Ok so lately I have been noticing that when I turn my key to off. It is clearly not! I do have some wires coming from the ignition wires to my car alarm. I was thinking it might be that. Like wire crossing. I turned my ignition to off today and waited without touching anything it shut off. other times I just kept turning it back in forth until it shut down. Should I just replace the ignition or should I inspect all the wires?
Sounds like the inside of the ignition switch is crossing power to where it shouldn't allowing every position to be RUN mode. You could try installing a toggle to the power that feeds the key to pass power onto the rest of the harness. Kill the switch, key thinks its off before you even turn it. Would make a nice kill switch for theft prevention too, even if you didn't hide it. I used to hide my wired switches next to lots of dead ones so people are confused what does what. Then I say they are all magic except this one lol.
Do you have an electric fan on your radiator? Sometimes an electric fan will feed power back into the system after the ignition switch is turned off and the engine will run for a few seconds (or minutes under certain circumstances) after the ignition switch is turned off.
Thats simple! Just replace a small section of your fuel line with rubber hose. Cut a hole in the floor over the section of hose and weld a set of vise grips to the frame with the hose running through the jaws. When you want to shut off the truck, just clamp the vise grips shut, pinching the fuel line. Simple! Or.. of course, you could always do like you said and just replace the ignition. Noone respects good 'ol, redneck ingenuity.
I Like The Idea Of Putting The Rubber Fuel Line Through Your Teeth! Just Chomp Down When You Want It To Shut Off Lol....... Or A Simple Key Switch Might Do The Trick.... Maybe.
