So I have this 1976 Toyota pickup. The battery lost a charge. Got a new battery and now nothing will happen. No noise , no clicking or anything. Could it be an ignition problem?
Check your starter motor wires. Make sure all negatives are bolted down either to the body or to the motor. If the starter still won't click you can try some soft lovin with a hammer on the side to loosen the throwout pin.
starting issues I have check all the grounds I believe. Still nothing. battery has full charge. dash lights turn on when Ipump. the key. can hear the electric fuel pump .
You may have popped a fuse while changing things. Also check the battery terminals here the leads come off the clamp. I think my 78 goes from the battery direct to the starter for the positive. Once my clamp came loose and it wouldn't start, but since the rest of the harness feeds off another line from the clamp it all still worked. Sounds like a simple problem though. And post some pics, we love the classics. I've got a 78.
I had the same problem on my 87 turned out to be starter relay witch is more expensive than the starter or battery so I put a push button in problem solved
I had the same problem it was just a wire that ripped off of the battery terminal somehow. Make sure there aren't any loose wires on the battery terminal. Either that or a fuse but always start from easiest to fix to hardest. More times then not its something easy.
Are there any good visual aids for repair in print or on the web? Chiltons book for this year is limited. This year is so different from the 80s models. Where is the start relayI'll try to find it in the book. Thanks for all the help.
On my truck its located on the passenger side of the engine bay it makes a clicking noise when u try to start your truck have someone bump the key to make it click while you listen and locate the position of the relay
