I want to see the crazy builds you guys are doing when you not building minitrucks mine was a china scooter that my daughter quite riding so I turned it in to a beer scooter
My buddies and I started sliding karts. I say sliding because I'm not sure it meets the definition of drifting.
just like how R/C drifting began in the early 2000's. PVC was initially used, a harder plastic. then we used ABS piping. it was a bit softer and provided much more control.
Don't have any pictures worth posting, mainly because it's in pieces but I'm working on a custom Radio Flyer wagon. When I say working on I mean all the parts are in the basement waiting on me to start working on it again.
I built a drift trike.. An adult big wheel with PVC on the back wheels All down hill, adrenaline pumpin, sliding fun Until you have no ride and have to walk back up the hill...
I used to build chopper bikes in high school. Big raked out long mofos. Single gear on most but a few had 20" mountain bike rear wheels with derailers. These days I just macgyver random things together and build trucks. The 78 and our 91 Dakota with a 440 take up most my time lol.
One of these days I'm going to build a kart with a 2stroke dirt bike motor, like a yz250 6speed put some plastics on the back and that would be a sick thing to drive!
I also made a pitbike for parking lot racing at the dragon! We all raced in full leathers dragging knees on pitbikes! Mine was four bikes in one it was a part Honda z50 with a china 110 motor and a hand brake for wheelies
You could über gear it.. Make have slow take off and higher top speed. That way you can crash into things and hurt worse
One of the short takes we did of the slide karts from my buddies FB page. Video's not the greatest, but you get it... https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=659125927436154
Drifting is fun! If I had the money I would buy 240 put a Ls motor and drift like hell! The trikes and karts look fun as hell! I remember being 16 with my first car learning to E brake slide! That all started from big wheels when where kids lol!
I'm slowly building up a Schwinn adult trike. Converting it to multi-speed using an old mountain bike for gearing. I'm working on using an old handlebar-stem mounted shifter and putting the brass air filler extension from the dually truck wheels to make long, polished shifter handles. The "shift knob" will be a couple of ball shaped, Schwinn logo valve caps, but whenever I want to change them out, I can just unscrew them and replace with any valve cap that looks good.
I've always wanted to build an adult big-wheel. Not a downhill rig, but one like when I was a kid, but for adults and for riding moderate distances. I figure u could start with a geared unicycle for the front wheel and pedals, make the frame and then adapt a couple golf cart tires and racing seat.
