So thinking about doin 3" rear and torsion drop. Will I run into any major problems? For instance alignment? And how far should I go on the torsions so its not too much and its at a level drop? Im also back to my stock wheels and tires 195/70R14 will my 245/18s rub when I go back to them?

Hey, You will be fine with a 3" drop. You won't run into any problems except the occasional bottoming out on the bump stops at heavy load. Alignment should be okay but you may experience minor camber wear. I never had an issue only dropped 3". You should re-key the torsion bars rather than just loosening them and consider getting drop spindles that will drop you 2" without altering the stock suspension specs. They are under 300 for a set new and cheaper used. I'm not sure if the aftermarket rim/tire combo will rub. Hope this helps some!

On my 92 I ran the torsion keys to where they were level with the crossmember and didn't hang out any. That got me about 3-4" up front.

My 86' has a flat spline on the torsion bar... how can you bypass that? Get t-bars off an older truck?

your limiting factor with a torsion drop will be your bumpstops and your stock length shocks. get shorter drop shocks, and remove your bump stops and replace them with low profile ones.

your 18's rubbing will all depend on your wheel specs, and how big a series tire you are running. at 3 inches of drop i doubt you'll have too many issues though. should be little to no rub.

If you do drop spindles you will have to have the toe set! I used 3 inch bell tech and my toe was way off! I work at a shop so it was nothing to throw on the alignment machine! I totally agree about taking the torsion out and moving them on the splines or they drag everywhere!

You can buy smaller bump stops

You can go 2" - 2.5" with out any major problems but there is a limit. Go too low in the front and your camber can be out of range or require too many shims for a proper alignment, the lower control arms fixes that. DJM, sells a drop kit that is for torsion/block drops. It's a 3"/4" drop kit. It comes with LCAs, drop blocks, U-bolts for the rear and all hardware. I so happen to be selling one for $185 for the just the arms or $200 for the whole kit not including shipping. I plan on shipping it from my works UPS account so it should be cheaper than you doing yourself. This kit is like $250+ new. Mine has nothing wrong with its functionality, just a little dirty and a small rust ring around the sway bar hole.
