It's upgrading your wiring in the engine, typically using 4 gauge or 1/0 wire. It's alt positive to battery, battery negative to chassis, and engine ground to chassis.

Just a heads up as I just ran into this problem myself. When you run a new wire, make sure to tie in the old wiring for the alt or your corner and rear lights will no longer work. What I did was run a distro block on the driver side so both wires saw power from the alt, and then tied the wiring together on the new fuse on the passenger side.

There are two nuts on the alt for the positive. Remove the lower one on the post so you have more post available. Doingthat will allow u to stack the original factory wire onto ur 1/0 ring terminal then bolt it down.

there is no cons. well maybe a few extra wires in the engine bay. but the pros are great outcomes. better ground and steady voltage means a happier electrical system. itll help to keep ur battery tip top shape. and also keep voltage in the high 13.8 to 14.4 range. good voltage is also good for prolonging the life of your amps. your amps dont like to see spikes in voltage or realy low voltage drops. helps to compensate some for those with compressors larger sound systems etc. check my build thread for my big three if you need reference. i also grounded my alternator to my frame using the adjustment bolt and the frame right there. it gained me. .2 volts at idle which is great.

Great thanks! So what ur saying is just add the wire from alt to battery amd don't actually remove whats existing. Its alright to use big audio power wire isnt it? Copper strans are thinner but man is there a lot. Is it better or worse from regular common aftermarket battery cable that has few thick strans?

Yeh leave the existing wiring from factory. The higher the strablnd count the better and alsobkore flexible. The best bang for buck and flexibility wire I've found is knuconceptz wire. Use zero gauge or 4 gauge. Many like 4 gauge on stock alternator since the stock alt is only 80amp max I think actually 60 lol. So no need for too large of a wire unless u plan on going larger later
