So it's been getting warm lately here. I have a slider window but its still too warm inside sometimes. Was thinking about making some half doors from a spare set of doors. The low notched kind without glass. Has anybody seen that on a lowered truck before? Or any suggestions?
Only if you put on bead-lock wheels and a roll bar with KC lights for the full effect. Oooo, and a bumper sticker that reads: I beat Moab, what's your excuse? Seriously, I think the part that makes it sound cool is that its NOT done usually. I say try it.
I have a roof rack and some lights I'm gonna reinstall. Just thought it would be a nice summer thing. Cops around here don't mess with lifted trucks that have no doors but I thought a lowered rig should have a partial door
That is awesome! ^^ I would love tube doors except I don't own a welder right now. I can cut apart and mod a stock door though. Rivots and panel glue. Plus I can make it a big pocket to hide whatever I need to hide. And nam, I thought about the bumpers. And semi lug nuts. But I can also do drive-by booty slappin'
I just saw an AE86 with something like that instead of the plastic stock bumper. Was pretty cool. I like tube work though.
I think if I made a tube door I would have an upper frame to for the can. Put a few boat snaps around the outside so I can put up a half black half clear vinyl cover. In case it gets late and whichever pretty girl riding shotgun that night is chilly.
yea saw a tubular front bumper on a drift 240 and been thinking about it ever since also on a side not Jessie James had a similar set tubing setup on a mid 90's Camaro looked similar very stock car esk..
having an off road rig with tube doors lemme give ya some insight. first they are awesome for airflow!! The reason for tube or half doors is for visibility on the trail to be able to see the tire and obstacle a little better. Now that being said, it allows for all kinds of debris to get flung into the cab when driving. Second thing to consider, hope there isnt anything you cant live without in the cab if you step away from your truck because there is no way to secure it......... just things to consider. My Krawler has all important things locked up either in the box or pad lock mount for the other things.
Thats gotta be the most bobbed 4runner ive seen, and it still has the fiberglass roof i already thought about everybody having access into it, but i dont keep anything in it as it is. few things in the center console like screw drivers and spare soda, and paperwork in the glove box. not too worried about getting hit with junk driving lol. ill wear goggles haha
Cool deal, as long as you got it covered!! I love driving down the road with my foot on the slider... just as good as any A/C! (well almost) I think it ended up getting bobbed 25" when done. Ive got a 72" hi-lift secured as well as shovel/axe mount secured in the back, not to mention the full truck box of tools and bits. Shes under the knife again..... from those photos she has been linked in the front and taken on a few more wrinkles. In process of lowering again, 3" lower, replacing some links, front tubework redone....was going to keep 37's but came across a great deal on some pitbull tires so going up another size. My favorite thing is that its still "legal" to drive on the street. Turn signals f/r, tires are covered/mud flaps, all lights are there, windshield is present (cracked to bits but there) and I have a windshield wiper. (believe it or not Idaho code says you have to have a windshield wiper, nothing about a windshield or if the wiper needs to be attached to anything.... Ive know a person who drope their flat fender j**p with no windshield and a wiper in the glovebox in case they got pulled over.)
