Double row timing chain kit on order from 22reperformance.com No worries, just thought i'd share the image...I'm still driving her, but only for the necessities.
Man, sorry to hear about that. Never a good thing. So you've just got the single row right now, right? Makes me love my '82 all that much more.
Very common !! LC double row & their wider front case/water pump,in use, comes on their Pro Street engine!
X2 very common I use metal guides single row oem Toyota chain 7300 rev limit six and half years of abuse never broken a guide so yea LC makes good stuff
This double row kit would be nice!! But im thinking of staying with the single to keep it original-ish and just change to the metal guides...i havnt paid for the double kit yet..this was the main reason..i cant make up my mind :/
^ you will be fine with a single row chain and metal guides . In all my time messing with 22r/e I have never seen a chain snap . The chain itself is pretty stout .its the guides that fail you sure the double row is nice . It's ment for security and high rev continuous abuse ...well I've been doing that on a built motor for six years with a oem chain and metal guides . Not trying to steer you away from double but you can save cash and be fine with a single kit
(like has been mentioned) It's true, you don't need the double row if you're not really pushing the engine. If you've still got it mostly stock, even with basic upgrades, the single kit is fine But, if you've started to push the power beyond about 180hp and/or like to run hard and fast for long periods, then yeah, it might be time to start thinking about the double row. Regular hard launches are included. Or if you simply don't want to think about changing it for another 200k miles.
I replaced my timing chain guides 5 year's ago, never had i problem, I have a trd stage 2 cam and a downey header i drive my truck hard at time's also, you should be good going with the single chain set up,
Funds are getting pretty tight, and shes my daily...so looks like.im just gonna go with the metal guides and stick with single......for now
