Hi guys I have a 81 2wd Toyota with a 350 Chevy that has no power steering. I've be given a 93 4wd, has anyone tried a 93 power steering into a 81. I'd like to do it this spring when I have the motor out. The parts are free but if its to much playing around I'd try looking for another doner car.
I put power steer on my truck. Easy as pie. But a 2wd truck needs a 2wd p/s box. And depending on what year your motor is, it might be lacking 1 p/s pump bolt hole. Don't worry about it.
Did you put in same year steering box or did you use a different year. I would have to come up with some brackets to adapt the Toyota pump to the Chevy block or try to use a Chevy pump and a Toyota box. Unfortunately 79 - 83 are a pretty rare thing around here. That's why I need a box from another year. If I had time I would like to put rack and pinion steering in it. I wouldn't need power steering then.
Not sure if it came on a 2wd but it did come on my 83 4wd when I ordered it new. When the 93 comes I'll tear into it and see if it will work or if it would be easier to put a rack in or just leave it stock. Thanks for your input
