a stock motor will never rev to over 7 grand unless the motor ( whole rotating assembly) was balanced, with after market cam, stock 22r and 22re top out at 5500 unless your tach not properly calibrated... i know the post is old and im new to the site but i am a bit of a gear head...once passed the 5000 mark you will feel the motor drop off and loose power..
I shift my other motor in my other truck before I sold it at 8000 only at the track...but motor was built for racing.. 22r motors are not like the honda motors that can rev 10k all day long, and my other motor like the one I built now is majority top end, the motor in my pics will rev to 7500-8k all day long, but not cheap to build
Yup totally right I'm not de stroked and 7200 hundred is my max on a built stock stroke motor ...maybe could hit 7500 hundred pushin it
22Rs have a forged crank and rods. They are understandingly tough. I had a K20A1 in an Integra a long time ago, and I blew that motor in less that 100 miles driving it "spriritedly" to closer to its rev limit. The toyota motor needs alot of cyl head work for it to make power after 6K, but it can.
