My frend corently has a 86 toyota pick up with a84 style 22r ...there is a weird tapping sound so we opend up the valcve cover and seen that the aluminum rockers were hitting the top of the valve cover and i never hear of that before so could someone please hel. Us
new gasket for the valve cover and tighten to spec, if you over tighten the valve cover the rocker arms hit it.
Thanks bro tjat helped haha and now there is another sound comin from the oil pump area ....wen we changed his timing chain we noticed an oil spline spindle gearon the crank was badly worn ...nd we think its sp bad that mayb its slippen teeth ...is that even possible?
Check your valve lash as well . As far as the oil pump slipping on the splines of the crank it could be possible haven't heard of that before you may want to take the timming cover of and check things out again possibly redo the timming chain and guides and inspect your oil pump for mechanical failure
