Has anyone changed the tail (LIGHT BULBS) only to to LED? If so, is a mod required? Could you explain? Where to find bulbs, etc.

Try LED Lights, Bulbs & Accessories - SUPER BRIGHT LEDS it should be a direct swap, no mods needed. Do your research on their site. The higher the lumen the brighter they will be. If your swapping turn signals you need to get a new flasher relay from them so it wont blink fast.

My college teacher in auto was talking about adding a resistor since they do not need much electricity to work but I am not sure I akso wanted to do this to my lights

Everything but the front marker/blinker, dome and heater control light is now led on my 78. I got my bulbs from superbrightleds.com. They are indeed super bright and it didn't take much work. I installed resistors on the rear turn signals so they still blink like factory, I'll swap in the front bulbs once they get here. I screwed up and ordered 1156's instead of 1157's for the front. Plug and play, much brighter than stock. :D

Yeah since the LEDs dont need that much so resistors need to be added but how to you add dem?

Simply wire one end of the resistor with the blinker positive wire and the other end to ground.

Not necessarily soldered, I actually used crimp connections for the time being but I will be pulling the tailight wiring one of these days to solder it and add a trailer plug.
