Curious how strong these axles internals are and what they can withstand. I am wanting to put one in a chevy s10 I have. They look better, and I dont have to worry about welding to cast. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!
Also need to know measurements to see if it is too far off to work. Just want to know if the gears can handle a v6 I really need the help idk where else to turn to.
The minor diameter of the axle shafts are bigger than a dana 44 and smaller than a dana 60. If you use the 4 pinion third member and chromoly axle shafts, they are bullet proof. Lots of guys running small blocks with stock axles....
Well i wont be snatching gears and hauling ass, just want to make sure it will hold up. I need to know the width from drum to drum so I know if it will fit. And I was hoping to get away with stock internals as well?
width will depend on what year truck it comes from. Seems like they got a little wider with each body style change.
Looks like I'll have to go to the scrap yard and get to measuring then. The toyota rear ends look so much better without a big ugly cast diferential IMO. I hope they are similar width!
you know they are different lug pattens right? toyota 5x4.5, s-10 5x4.75 also if your worried about strength, you could look for a 2wd 8'' axle. they were found in the 1 ton 4spd trucks. then you can put a 4x4 3rd member in it to get differents gears and also lockers.
My wheels are universal they will fit lol. Only thing I will have to modify is axle to drive shaft. And thanks for the input! I will be heading to the salvage yard this weekend. I am building this truck into a show truck that is already bagged and soon to be bodied. But the rear end needs to be redone thanks to the idiot who built it. So Im going all out.
Sense my truck is on stands right now I measured my axle from drum to drum I got 55 3/4 inches give or take a tid bit
