My t100 wont start after sitting overnight, but once it starts its fine all day, but the next day the same problem comes up, it has really hard starts, what could it be?
Like jaybee said check both and check if the alternator is charging your battery a quick way to check but wouldnt really recommend is disconnect your battery when the truck is on just to see if it stays on
When you say 'hard start', does the motor turn like it wants to start or is it drawn down and slow like the battery might be going dead? ...
I wanna say it's a prob with the fuel system ... With so many engine mods out there it's hard to guess what it could be not knowing your set-up ... I would start by checking that the choke is'nt sticking (i'm guessing it's carbed, lol) ... Can you smell raw gas or strong exhaust ??? ...
my t100 is EFI, when i spray starting fluid it starts but then stalls. new spark plugs, fuel pump, all fuses are good
Well that tells me that it's, more than likely, in the fuel lines 'cause if you're spraying directly in and by-passing the lines and it's starting but stalls when you stop spraying, something is stopping fuel from flowing between the fuel tank and motor ... Or maybe clogged injectors ... I had a problem starting my truck shortly after i got it and i had no idea that it had a after market in-line fuel filter that had clogged ... I removed it and replaced the line and have'nt had a bit of trouble since ... Just throwing ideas out there ... Keep me posted, please ... PM me if you need ...
I got the fuel pump to work It was the main relay under the glove box, and wala the pump started, but the truck wont !
On EFI engines, there are a few things that can cause this : Thermo-time switch IAC, idle air control valve pressure regulator cold start valve If any of these are not working correctly could cause what you are experiencing.
I would like to chime in on this toppic. Im a tech at toyota in walnut creek ca. Im willing to bet that the iac valve it stuck in the hot position. When you start the truck if you hold the throttle will it stay running? If so replace the iac valve and gasket.. Another thing with this engine is that since its on the lower side of the throttle body. If you clean the throttle body all the crap falls in the iac and gums it up.
According to the OBD the cam positioning sensor is bad so i replaced it ($80), checked for spark and its fine. I noticed their is a viper alarm system, im going to take it out and see if maybe its the inmoblizer thats causing all these problems.
