It's just the nature of the beast. Spending an hour fitting a glass cowl is much easier than spending an afternoon welding fill panels into a stock cowl then doing bodywork to make that warped piece of sheetmetal straight again. :waytogo:

Now I know why the guys on the Corvette forum are all so pissy. I just assumed it was the small willie thing... Hence them being Corvette owners. Compensating, you know? Turns out theyre all pissed about having to do bodywork.
Buy a new corvette: Take it home... Sand... Bondo... repeat.
Adjust balled up sock stuffed in pants.
    Sand, bondo, repeat.

Ok, ok, Just trying to lighten the mood a little.

When I lived in England I had a Lotus Eclat, all glassfibre body, it had plenty of little cracks in the body around the trunk lid, when I found out how much work was involved in repairing them properly I sold it, rather than pour another ton of money into it just getting rid of something most people would never notice!

this is the thing ... and I'm sure why hes so pissed ! he shouldnt have to . and I agree , thats not what or how I sold the part . It is supose to fit "right out of the box" (of course like we talked about filling the wiper hole cutouts and drilling the mount holes) This is exactly why I grabbed one out of stock right away , and went out and fit it to the blue truck .

As you can see , It fit ! so I started asking questions , and I think he was insulted ? I dont really know why , as our communiques didnt last long . I'm not even sure what he wanted me to do ? , but I knew if I was just to replace it with another , and he had the same problem , what then ?

I have sold 30+ of these pieces , all out of the same mold and now it didnt fit one 1 truck ....

Edit -- Jason , if you read this , and not sure if this will help you , but maybe remove the rubber seal on the front , see if this helps with your fit issue , you can always add some thinner foam tape to use as a spacer

Ok, I'm no longer angry or care to keep this fire going. With that said... All I can really say is that the piece doesent look good after I bolted it on. I was a little irritatted when you asked me if i screwed it down all the way and if there was debris under the rubber seal,as that would be hard to miss and commen sense during an install ( I also do understand why you asked). I am by no means a rookie at any modification but you did tell me that there were just small marks where the wipers came through that would sand out, but this is not the case. And the part just plain doesent fit the way I think it should. Therefore I wouldnt call it a direct bolt on installation.

I dont know why I have the 1 freak cowl that doesent fit properly, but I do and I wouldnt complain about a small fitmentment problem. I can take a million more pics if you would like.

Basically I'm just going to have to modify this untill its the way I think it should be and thats that.

Apart from that it's over. You got paid, I got the part, and neither of us are happy. I will admit that this post was a mistake and took the wrong direction . My fault . It is what it is and life goes on.

Am i the only person that's gonna post saying that no fiberglass part ive EVER ordered has fit correctly? whether its the E3 Eleanor kit from a certain mustang part place in Las Vegas. or a glass roll-pan from F.B.I. Customs (i know i know, dont order a glass pan....ever, and if ya do, dont mold it into the bed, it will break, learned that the hard way). not trying to egg it on, just my .02 . Fiberglass is never a bolt in. by the way "under Construction" im loving the profile pic wish ya were closer, id fix the cowl just to see your truck haha.

What I ended up doing (for anyone who gives a ****) is 1)removing the rubber seal 2) tapping down the factory mounting holes and removing the nylon inserts 3) drilling new mounting holes to the inside of the factory ones on the cowl to allow the screws to be tightened down further closing up the gaps. Is it perfect? No, but good enough for now. Seems I will have some cracking issues eventually because of the stress the fiberglass is under to hold this new shape .We'll just have to see. Off to Relaxed Atmosphere show I go...

I think it turned out great and congrats on having the passion to make this mod work out. I have had to do this several times, we all have to, thats just the way the custom automobile scene goes. I am almost 100% positive that those beautiful cover trucks we all see and love on the cover of Mini Truckin' magazine have all at one time had to makes mods work out.

This makes me want to shave my cowl, keeping my wipers though, we'll see.
