hmm ok i will have to look at my engine to see if its got a coil on it i have no idea with thease diesel engines but this is my first diesel engine and so far since ive had it ive lent it to a few people and who knows if they have thrashed it ? but it came back sounding and going the same each time so they must be prety good i know its reliable its never broken down or missed a beat once, but ive heard from a good mate the alternator is aparently the most costly fixture to fix it it breaks cause it operates some pumps and stuff but all seems good in the engine and running gear, the tacho i can get anywhere cheap i am still learning about the diesel engines there is endless things to know lol. thanks for your reply.

You know, the non-USA LN40's had a Tach as an option. It was small and mounted in the space next to your speedo. Usually that space was reserved for the optional clock.

Did you want to go internal or an external Tach?
