Was thinking of using a 4wd end and lug adapters for the front. Wanna know what yuu guys think, good idea or waste of time?
You need to be a little more specific on what you are trying to accomplish.. Are you wanting to add a 4x4 IFS and convert it to 5 lug?? is that what your asking?
I think he is saying he wants to install 4x4 rear end and install lug adpater for the front... You would get a stronger rear end with locker and gear options. you will have to weld some perches on the bottom side off the 4x4 rear end to still be spring under it would also widen the track some over the 2x4 rear end (I think Im a 4x4 guy so I dont quite know all there is on a 2x4) The lug adapters would probably be about 1.5" wide mayby 1" so that would stress your ball joints and bearings up front. but it would look sweet with those factory 17" chevy wheels with the round holes and some lowpro's Has any one tried to bolt a 4x4 hub on to the 2x4?
What i was thinking was getting a 4x4 toyota rear end n relocate the perches under the axle so it'll work on my 2wd. Then use lug adapters up front to make it the 6x5.5 lug pattern all around. So basiclly I'll have a 6 lug 2wd.
And if using spacers will stress the b/j and bearings, wouldnt rims with negative offset do the same??
Ive been told its popular with the Guam guys. They use some sort of nissan truck hub (IDK what truck), and either it bolts right on, or they use a bearing spacer. Cant remember exactly. But somebodys going to know the fine points. Then you can use any 6 lug wheel basically.
ok i understand now.. ill see if my frontier drop spindles fit my yota arms... that would give you 6 lug and 2 piston calipers..
Wtf is the point of converting it to 6 lug? There are at least as many options for factory wheels for 5 lug with no work needed. If just wanting an 8" diff for gearing options a factory V6 or 1 ton axle will bolt right in.
Im 99% sure the factory hardbody hubs fit our truck to make it 6 lug, you may need the spindle too, im not sure. didnt say why you want to do this yet.
Yeah i wanted to do this for two reasons, for the 8" diff and the 6lug pattern, some caddys on a 2wd toy would be sick
So the 4wd rear plan is out cause i found a complete v6 rear end, I think. Does any one know how to tell if its a v6 8" without taking it apart?
Does anyone know if the v6 rear ends have an electric locker or something electical in the 3rd member?? because there are two wires going to the top of my 3rd member
2x V6 is a 4 spider 8" diff same as the 4x V6. 4x 4 cylinder is a 2 spider 8" diff but they are directly interchangeable.
ok so its all interchangeable, only the v6 8"diff is stronger. Just making sure because Im going to weld my v6 2wd diff and was just making sure I could use 8" diff from 4wds to replace it if it breaks Thanks
