Hey guys I wanted to know if I could tow two jet skis on a trailer? Is my truck capable of pulling them? I already have a towing receiver and trailer hitch.

-1988 pickup single cab long bed 2WD 5 speed with the 2.4L 4Cyl.

Is it sit down type skis or stand ups ? Sit downs are heavy and stopping will be a problem. I used to pull my 20' Allison bass boat with my 88/22R and now I think that I was nuts.... If they are the stand up type it shouldn't be a problem.

Back in the day, my Dad used to haul a 14' fiberglass boat to Canada (600 miles) once a year with a fiberglass topper loaded with gear. The truck was a 1985 reg cab short box with a 22r and a 4 speed. The truck was given away at 320k(running fine), original timing chain, and the first clutch was put in at 220k.
The amazing thing is that my brother and I primarily drove it from 130k on, it was our first vehicle and we beat the hell out of it.

If my Hyundai ELantra can pull mine I wouldnt see why not but as mentioned in the first post your stopping power will be diminished a good deal and hills will be a good workout. I guess as long as your not doing it alot I dont see a problem with it just be careful

i once hauled over 2000 pounds in the bed of my 88 4x4 with the 5 speed. it sunk it down pretty bad, but as far as power it hauled the weight just fine. the 4x4's have better brakes and they worked good. i'm sure with the ski's on the trailer you'll be fine.

remember that toyota built these trucks to work like a truck. they weren't built like todays trucks that are built to haul people in comfort.

get brakes added to your trailer, only a few hundred and youll be fine. if not dont drive it too far or too fast.. give yourself plenty of room to stop !

its not shown but we were still loading the bed of the truck and trailer with a tree that we removed from the yard.

Just take your time driving and you'll be fine.

Negative... I have 2 sit down waverunners on a trailer. A single seater and a 3 seater. They are really heavy. Acceleration was slow and you REALLY knew a trailer was back there. When we were pulling them outta the water the truck was mainly spinning the tires on a steep launch ramp (lake perris ,CA) I had to have my friends push the back of trailer to get traction (5 speed). And braking was a joke. Not good for pulling alot of weight. However, I did pull my small 8 ft trailer with 2 banshee's on it a few times with no problems. But they weigh around 400 lbs a piece and the trailer isint much more than that. As far as ski's go, I'd say no way.

EDIT : Dirtbikes are relatively light, as well as quads. A streetbike is around 600 lbs so that is no prob either. But skis are fiberglass and quite heavy (not sure on weight) but I can tell you from personal exp. that they are no fun to pull with a lil '22re. Hope this helps.

Did some R & D and my 1 seater weighs 540lbs with a full tank and the 3 seater is advertized net weight at 530 (empty and dry) not counting the trailer and storage... Roughly 1100 lbs without trailer under perfect circumstances. My 2 banshee's weigh less than that full with trailer and gear. Good luck .

I took my truck camping this last summer, traveling into the mountains and up I-70 through the Eisenhour tunnel (sp). I can say now that I wouldn't want to have a large load on it when trying to go up those hills and especially wouldn't want it going DOWN the hills!
I would say that if its just a short trip from the storage place to home, no problem. More than that and I wouldn't risk it.
