only had my truck for a few days and a pretty loud whining is coming from the back of my truck. not sure what it is but its annoying going down the road. the pitch of the sound changes when i take my foot off the gas. dont think its a wheel bearing cause it starts at about 25-30 mph. anybody have any suggestions on what it could be. dont want to start replacing parts till i find out what it is.
Check your front rotors. Mines were rusted & warped. I had a good amount of vibration sound/humming and it couldn't exactly make out where it was coming from, thought it was coming from the rearend. Ended up taring apart my whole rearend looking for bad bearings but there were all still good.
im turning my front rotors next week when i put my brakes on heavy the steering wheel shakes a lil bit but it really sounds like its coming from the back of the truck
it not the diff ur tranny has been used alot i had the problem in mine gears 1235 had it got a new tranny and wala problem solved
you dont really hear it that bad in first until bout 15-20 mph.and definetly in 5th but havent really paid that much attention to the rest of them. did you rebuild your tranny if so how much did it run ya mine is a w55
i havent yet i just got another tranny form the junk yard ran about 300 or so i still have the original 1 to rebuild eventually but thts how mine was was annoying as heck zoooming sound wooling right ????
i guess its kinda got a roaring like a old set of mud tires going down the road and when you take your foot off the gas the sound changes a bit
im mine it would do the same wen u let off the gas like quiet dwn i was told then inside baering of my old tranny were out or dried out but idk
i just got this to drive to work to save on gas and keep miles off my other truck so what would be better getting my old one rebuilt or buying one from junkyard
Going to change both rearend and tranny fluids and i guess i ll go from there. If it was you which one is the easiest and cheapest to swap out rearend or tranny
i noticed last night on the way home that my speedometer was acting up. it would be working fine and suddenly would bounce down to 0 then back up to the correct speed. no certain time it does it some was wondering if this could be cause some of the whine i'm hearing. is they some where i can unhook it to see if thats the problem without taken my whole dash apart to get to the back of my speedometer.
i had thth problem but with the new tranny i changed the cable 3 times from diffrent trucks and still the same my problem was the inner part of where the cable hooks up was bad the inside of the wheel the teeth on it were not all the way they should hope this helps
