So I bought a new set of wheels for the Yota this week. 15"x7" Cragar Smoothies. Great wheels. Only I didn't like all the "bling", so I decided to paint the center of the wheels black to give it a more "old school" look. Here is how i did it.

    Supplies:
    Wheels (DUH!)
    Masking Tape
    220 Grit Sandpaper
    Masking Paper
    Rattle Can Primer
    Rattle Can Paint
    Rattle Can Clear Coat.
    Rubbing Alcohol
    Paper Towels
    LOTS OF TIME!

    Sexy "Smooth" Smoothies.

I started by going ahead and taping the wheels off. Using 2"-3" strips of tape will make it easier to get into the corners of the wheels.

Start applying the masking paper. I cut the paper into about 4"x6" squares. This made it easier to curl the the paper over the wheel so you could tape it down.

    My helpers.

All done with the taping process.

Now I sanded the wheels using 3M 220 Wetordry sandpaper. Get comfortable, cause you're going to be here a while.

After about a little more than a hour of sanding im finally done.

I used some of the masking paper and taped it to the floor of my garage to help with over spray.

Using the rubbing alcohol and a paper towel wipe down the wheels to remove any dirt or oil from your hands.

Now the moment has come that you can paint. Primer first though.

I put 3 layers of primer, 5 layers of paint, and 4 layers of clear coat. Waiting about 15-20 minutes between coats.

I forgot to take pics of the wheels while I applied the black paint. But this is how they look on the truck.

    And my reward.
