So I am not sure whats going on. Here is my new acquisition: I thought that this may be the rare Mojave under the black under-coating. Here is some thing that caught my eye, and maybe I am just crazy, but the shifter looks like it is in the wrong place. It seems way far forward like in a 4x4. Also, there is a some metal welded in the floor where the shifter comes through. From what I have seen from other 2wd's is that the shifter is almost between the seats and it sticks straight-up. Any ideas?
Yup Its A Mojave I Have One I Love It Alot.......Yours Is In WAYYYYYY better Condition Than Mine Was Lol check out My Build
'tis I looked all over it and could not see any numbers stamped or cast into the case. Someone suggested it is a W58. I guess it's a popular swap because it has high gear ratios. That might make some sence since the truck seems to lack low end torque, despite the fact that it has a full length header. However, it really scoots at 2000-3000 RPM.
THanks. I really lucked-out since this particullar example is 99.9% rust and dent free under the black coating.
I totally scoped it out. I really dig the alloys on the lic where you have lowered. My Mojave has the wrong bed. I suspect it was rear-ended at some point.
how many bolts hold the center section together? 8 bolts - G 9 bolts - W 10 bolts - R considering the fact the drain plug comes strait down, it cannot be an R. an R trans drain plug comes out sideways towards the passenger side my guess is it's a G because of how the webbing looks, and the W is flatter on the bottom, also the Rev. lights switch is on the pass. side
also, not sure about 2WD's but on my 4WD "R" trans the number is stamped into the cast iron center section... try looking there on what i'm gonna call your "G" trans, if not, look on the flat spots in the aluminum housings right next to the cast iron center section it's gotta be there somewhere
First off, thanks for the help I got under there and saw that there are some numbers stamped in that location, unfortunately, there is a scuff that has mangled the numbers/letters. When you say count the bolts, do you mean all the bolts on the bell-housing side and tail-shaft side?
My G57 in my 88 sits forward like that, so I would think it is a G. I actually prefer the shifter to sit further up than between the seats.
my 82 sits way forward like that, but no cut out in the floor. my shifter is a bit taller though. i will look for numbers and check it out.
