Well, I finished putting the interior together on my '88 Toyota pickup. Base model, 22R engine, no frills, 5 spd. Everything was put back together nice and solid. After all was said and done, I've got a little... um, not problem, but rather a nuisance. All electrical is running fine, routed, etc, but now, when I give power to the ignition (whether I start the engine or not) the lights for the alternator and the parking brake come up. Dimly but they're on. The parking brake light comes on strong when the parking brake is applied as is to be expected, and the alt light comes on but when you disengage it, the parking brake light stays on, only dim, as well as the alt light; both dim but on. I did forget to ground stuff when I was testing stuff before I was finished and I burned something in the gauge panel, so I went to my local pick and pull and got the circuit board out of another truck. I lucked out and found the exact same board, which I proceeded to put on. Everything seems ground correctly and plugged to their sockets. I'm really new with this truck, any ideas?

The battery / e brake lights together mean alternator. Are you 100% sure its a solid Alt. Test it? Is the belt tight? If its none of these its probably a ground.

While it is idling, Push firmly on the black electrical plug on the back of the alternator. Be careful of the fan. Mine did the exact same thing after I put in a new alt. The connection wasn't tight. Are as stated it could be a bad alt.
