anyone else having there interior handles break on them? i have now gone through 2 drivers side handles this year and its getting annoying.
anyone know of any metal handles that will work instead of the crappy plastic ones?

Look for pre 78 handles. I have found a few sets in junk yards that are metal and chrome. I held onto the clean ones. I have seen some on ebay before for the 84-88 trucks, which will bolt to yours with a little work, drilling a new hole I think and putting it back together. And you have to run the 84-88 plastic surround. But the pre 78 bolts to the 79-83 doors and stock plastic surround.

I was thinking 79-83 for some reason, looked at the wrong section.

But the 84-88 ones might fit the later pickups.

Look at more than just trucks for better parts... I found that tercels had metal interior handles that swapped into trucks directly. Also had more color options to mix things up too.

bumping this back up because i was at the junk yard on saturday and found out that the handles from a 91 corolla work and fit perfect in the pickups. they seem to be a lot more stout then the crappy aftermarket ones and they have a much better feel to them as well. i didnt find much in the chrome style that bolt right on but handles from a crasada were chrome and seemed like they would work with some kind of small spacer and a hole drilled in the door.
