I posted in Josh's thread, but for those who may never see it, I decided to make a thread. Thanks to Yankee (Manny) I was able to pull in a quick job and help a local mini trucker/TM member at the same time.

His 83 came to him with a cool little air system that consists of a quick little pump and what looks to be about a 2.5 gallon tank. It has a switch/guage/lever in the cab that fills and dumps...and quickly.

He gets 3" from it and can not only roll low smoothly now, but can air up and haul stuff. Below are the few mods I did and a few pics. This truck is slammed in back now, and the proof is in the 14" tires that he's able to tuck with a 2WD bed. Now we all know monoleafing isn't the greatest long term fix, but should hold him over until he can grab some Belltech leafs or simply bag the thing later if he decides that truly is the route he wants to go when that time comes. He said he loves the ride and the outcome.

I test drove it down to the pizza shop and told my wife to come along for the flashback. It even has that old OEM early Toyota interior smell as this truck is original as hell and in great shape! I LOVE these things!

Now for some 89-95 upper & lower control arms that will allow a b/j flip. Then he can really rip those torsions apart on stuff....but can at least raise up 3" in back to help out. :waytogo:

#1. deep weld in c-notch w/weld on outer plate & screw in bump stops
#2. cross member notch/bridge to clear 3rd member
#3. cut overload down to 8" and remove leaf
#4. trim 1/8" from fender lips
    #5. enjoy flashback/test drive

this makes me miss my 82 long bed. :( damn thing was so zippy even after we bought it for 500 dollars and it had been sitting for several years.
I like the choice of shoes on this one. Makes me think it should have like a So-Cal Speed Shop style paint job.I also like that its low to the point where you have to ask yourself if its lowered or not.

Airshocks? Very similar to the setup on my 67 stout. Very nice.

Oops, I think I forgot to mention that. Yes, air shocks. I used to not be a fan of them and thought they rode like crap, until a few months back I found some short ones and installed them on a 5/6 I did because the dude wanted to be low but haul a street/stuinting bike. I must say, the thing rode smooth as hell with 20psi in them and you could feel it raise when you aired up. Having a management system is the only way to fly. Here's the thread.
