FNG here, I live in a "Free" state and would like to remove the Air Suction system on my non California 93 22RE. LCE claims that it will trigger a CEL? Anyone have any info? I hate this Emissions crap.. I have a modified 22RE..,Headers,Cold air intake,Cam,porting, larger TB,no catalytic conv...Blah,Blah,Blah. Thanks, Stan
EGR system? I left mine intact but just disconnected the tube, placed some cloth over the EGR valve thing, and plugged the open hole in the intake side BUT, it raises EGT's and loses mpg.... I'd keep it in there (knowing me). LCE sells that block off kit. CEL or not, if it's just tell you the EGR is not working, pull the fuse and reset the ECU. simple fix..
Thanks for the reply, I plan on removing the EGR system also., don't like exhaust gases going back into the intake mixture...call me old school...I'm a 70s hotrodder. The system I'm talking about is the Air Suction system or air injection system. It introduces extra air into the exhaust system to reduce CO&HC. I'm looking to clean up the engine bay..don't want all the extra hoses/pipes and crap on top of the valve cover. How many MPGs will I lose?
I didn't lose any milage. I've removed the AIS and the EGR systems. Search..... http://www.toyotaminis.com/forum/engine-drivetrain-66/emissions-removal-6102/
What ever LC tells you ,will be correct! Computer governed engines will adjust to any change,& not always in a good way!! Lean or rich will in time damage your investment!
Thanks to all for the information and link. I may just keep the Air Suction for now.., EGR has to go though. Truck action: Vallejo huh? I lived there from 85-86. Sport biked alot @Lake Berryesa,Calistoga,Muir woods,Sears point raceway. Went back in 2009...really has changed. Stan
If you dont want to remove it all, You can tuck alot of it down under the intake. Thats how mine is now, But soon enough trucks getting a motor swap and wire tuck
93YODA ,I guess you mean bicycles,as of some of the areas . I raced & rode dirt bikes for a lot of years, but that was in my younger years! Last race when I was 32. And yes this city has & is changing! Been living here for 25 years now! Like the closest to the Bay Area & the weather!
Motorcycles..Sportbikes, as in Honda VFR 750,Yamaha FZR 750. People call them crotch-rockets now. Stan
