ok guys, ive been planning on doin a 1jzgte swap for awhile now but the more i keep thinking about it and considering building a car instead, is it worth it? will a 1jz in a light little truck put the power to the ground? i love my yota and it will be impossible for me to sell it for a fair price, i just dont know if doin this swap will get me the performance i need to pwned those f-bod and mustang guys. i plan on doin FULL suspension work and a mildly built engine for @least 400whp.:shrug:

If your already planning on suspension work and mild build then do it. It will put the power to the ground if your rear is done right. I dont know how to do it right but someone here should. I would take a baller fast truck over a car anyday because I grew up with fast cars and have never had a fast truck. My mildly built 350Z got its ass handed to it by my friends SR swapped toy truck. Do it

I agree with euro. I have a 2jz single turbo in my 89 and I love it! Check out my build and here is the truck B4 I bought it.

I just had my truck at the strip on the first and was running 14.2 at 104 running stock boost. This is running some street tires as well. Beat every mustang I went up against. All were 5.0s mustangs.

Yeah seriously... hooking with 400+rwhp on our trucks will EASILY eat competition.

you're talking about 400+rwhp on a ~2600lb chassis vs ~280hp cars with about 3400lbs of chassis weight. You have a single cab right?
at that point, you'll be looking for tires at least 285 wide to get the traction down on the streets. and slicks for the track if you're going to launch hard. Matt's build thread has alot of discussion put down on hooking, but that's also because he's going with the solid axle route (if you're going IRS, get an LSD. I know Supra rear ends are strong.. because Toyota built them like that).

My point is that you should do it. :)

99-04 Mustang GT's have 245's from the factory... and they have a **** ton of wheel spin. and that's stock V8

a good sticky set of 285's will help.

    SRT10 Viper's run 500hp and 345's. That's a 13" tire.

I think 400hp toyota pickup with sticky 285's will get you FAR. my friend runs Nitto NT555's on his 99GT and gets good grip.

    Those G-Forces are good too!
