I was just wondering if anyone has mounted a standard size stereo in their 83 toy pickups? If so where did you mount it? I was thinking about trying to cut out the metal bars where the original radio and tape deck are installed...any feed back is greatly appreciated
If you don't want to cut up your dash they make a under dash mounting box for older cars and boats that work well. i used one on my 77 and love it.
what company makes these kits? website? i am looking for a way to mount a stereo but keep the stock one in place as well.
maybe do the start of a custom console and mount the deck right under the gauges in front of the shifters? Wait, you said 2wd SHIFTER lol Somebody hacked out the ashtray and put the deck there on my 83
<-- car stereo installer the under dash thing you are talking about he is probably this piece here DASHKITS METRA 99-9000 Dash kit for mounting an aftermarket radio Universal Underdash CD Housing; If you came into my shop I would recommend leaving the stock radio in place and doing this radio www.casmfg.com/Secretaudio.htm The radio itself is concealed in a hideaway box, usually mounted under a seat and the display mounts very easily under the dash or even in the glove box because it has a RF remote. you could also hide a normal radio under the seat and use a marine controller , very similar concept as the secret audio. or build a custom center console
