Curious if ne one has found parts for one or a motor itself, I was thinkin bout boosting the yota insted of swapping the motor. Dunno how the 22re on boost would be for driftin n if the motor would handle the boost. Bassically im curious bout the ecu n exhaust manifold, n if ne one has tunned a 22re.
ive heard between here and there a few different things about boosting them. the compression on them is kinda high at 9 or 9.5:1. so i hear people onbly go up to around 5 psi of boost and it definitely wakes up with the powerband. i hear to pull timing about 10* and run it....... for a decent ecu tune i hear the megasquirt is what is being used............. other than that, either going to low compression (8.5:1) and modifying the combustion chambers will help since the design on the 22ret is more of an open chamber. this is just kinda tiny chunks and pieces of info....... someone else is bound to chime in with better more reliable info.
Thanks sd I really appreciated it, funny part bout all this is that I had a honda civic with a integra vtec motor on 10psi n compression was at 10:1 and she handle it fine, guess the blocks are different lol. But this helps alot, just gotta find an exhaust mani I guess n c what happens lol
The exhaust manifold sux, the computer cant handle more than 9PSI. But it is buildable. Really all you have to do is put LC's low comp forged pistons, gap the rings correctly, a nice set of headbolts/studs and a headgasket. And it makes your 22RE into a torquey bastard. The 22RET has some unique parts, like pistons, head, flywheel, ect. But they are not needed for a well built turbo 22RE.
Yea ARP headbolts. It depends on how carried away you get. I personally want to use a spare CT26 turbo I have from my MK3 Supra. Really you should be rebuilding your motor with new throwout bearings and headgasket and all the rebuilding engine process. I love the idea of turbo it is so awesome!
With the MK3 Supra there are ARP head bolts and ARP head studs. The studs are better. Try to get studs if you can. And you have to chase the the threads and clean them out. And torque them properly.
Aight kool, so bassically I dont need anything from a turbo modle just build it myself? Dose any one make a turbo manifold for this motor? I was also thinkin last nite after reading all this great info, could I do a rear mount turbo? N has anyone done that yet? I know it ought to be interesting and alot of fab work but im down for anything I wanna do this big and as unique as possible just how I do lol ask patriot pop lol. Oh another question dose anyone make kits to run the oil for the turbo on a 22re? Or is that gonna be more fab work? 22re turbo My brother in-law built a crazy fast 22re turbo with an SDS kit and nitros. He installed duel valve springs after market pistons (idk what specs) had the head ported and polished, I think it was a 292 cam with duel timming chain. The SDS made all the difference. He could advance and retard timming from inside the truck. He four linked the rear and had some Mickey Thompsons in the rear.THis truck was fast.
ok just looked up lce's turbo kits. just wanna know if any body knows how there feeding the turbo oil? im fresh out the honda game guys/gals so theres were my head is. i got the basic turbo thing but im curious how there doin this. goin turbo befor i drop her anymore.....its punk teens with civics season!! lol...ohh wait that was me not to long ago lol. thanks everybody!!
to run the oil for the turbo..your going to weld a tab into the oil pan for teh dump. and to get the oil your going to get it from the side of the block (honestly, my mind went blank)...but if you call LCE they will glady help you with it. that or look on 22rte forums... heres the link..will help with going turbo.. 22RTE-Trucks - Index
