i wasn't too hot on the wheels to start with either, but they're growing on me...and for $100 it's hard to complain.

i ordered the condensor, points, cap, and rotor in hopes of sorting out a little bit of the runability. i need to do plugs as well i'm sure. it ran rich with the stock carb for who knows how long. thanks for the suggestion.

your build up was one of the first i read when i bought my hilux...i like it a lot! it's not exactly my style, but i can respect what you've done with it. i'm not into laying things out or seeing how low you can go, but you sure did fine work on yours. glad to see you're back and still working on the lux. :waytogo:

Thanks, sorry if I came off rude about your wheels. I like what someone else said, I like the wheels, I like the truck, together... not so much LOL...

So the story of the Hilux continues...it's been awhile since I posted up. Just before Christmas I was rearended in the truck. I was turning left off of a county highway waiting for oncoming traffic to clear. The car behind me passed me on the shoulder going 55mph and the car behind them had no chance of stopping. I saw it coming so I got rolling but she still plowed me at 50mph+.

Amazingly we both walked away with minimal injury. I've had back issues since the accident, but things are getting sorted out there. Her car was totaled (2007ish Nissan Versa with impact zones that absorbed a ton of the blow). Mine looks like I backed into someone in a parking lot. She got under my roll pan and nailed the frame. When the officer rolled up he came to me first.
    Officer: "That your truck?"
    Me: "Yep."
Officer: "So were you in the accident or did you just stop to help?"
Me: "No, I was in the accident."
Officer: "Seriously? That car hit you?" ...pointing at totaled Versa...
    Me: "Yep."
Officer: "Gosh, if I didn't know better I'd say she hit a wall, not that truck..."
    Me: *grin*
Officer: "This is the second Toyota this week that came out of a rearend collision that looked that good. Last one was an F150 that looked hammered and the Toyota looked great."

Needless to say, I wish I had my brain turned on enough to snap a picture of the Versa, but I wasn't thinking about it. Her insurance has really taken care of me and the truck both.

I dropped it off at the claims adjuster the day after the accident at 8am. As the guy rolls open the shop door he had a huge grin on his face. When I get out he tells me he saw my truck on his list for the day but didn't think it really existed. "A 1970 Toyota truck?...I thought it was some kind of mistake." Followed by: "Well, I'm not going to be able to find any replacement parts for this. Geico will pay me for a day's work looking for them, but at the end of the day I'm going to write you a cheque for the damages." Sure enough, that's exactly what happened. :waytogo: They straightened the frame, aligned all four wheels, payed me three times what I paid for the truck and I'm repairing the damage myself. Can't complain. :D
