I have one here, it is 5.5" tall from the base to the top of the air cleaner. They make an air clean that is about an inch shorter than the one I have on mine. You have to take into account the adapter. A two piece adapter is about 3/4" tall I would guess. One piece adapter probably double that.

I put one on my old body dropped truck and had no issues, it barely rubbed in one spot under the hood, but I had old motor mounts and the motor could have gone lower. Also had the 2" tall air cleaner. And my stock air clean was sectioned about an inch, so if yours fits stock I think you will have no problems. My truck was also a first gen, which has a lower hood line.

The downdraft webers are a little taller than the stock carb. The air filter is about2-3 inches tall, but you could get a K&N filter that's about 1.75 inches tall

my truck runs really good..... motor is all stock set-up. ill probably just get the adapter from LC for the stock carb and put a cleaner on it..... does the carb make that much of a difference? i only put like 100 miles a year on this truck if that

If you install a 32/36 weber you should get better gas mileage at low rpm's and little bit more pep overall

I got better mileage with my 20R carb (had a 20R engine), but I kept cracking the bases or having issue with them. I went through like 3 carbs. Once I got my Weber jetted right it ran really good, felt like more power in the low end, pulled about the same in the top end. My motor was mildly modded with a cam and header. The adapter to run a stock air cleaner looks kinda tall to me, but I figure its because the air cleaner base drops down. I will probably run that on my truck. The smog guy said that if I have the stock air cleaner on (have to have the thermostatic air cleaner) and you can't really see the carb the chances of me getting a ticket are slim.

so the big gain by switching to this carb set-up is mostly for fuel? no real noticable power gains? from what i have read they are kinda a pain to get dialed... im not worried about smog either cause i know a guy... like i said i hardly drive it(mostly just drive my 2010 tacoma crew..or R1). but if it made a big difference id get it for show points... but i think a stock carb with a LC adapter and an edelbrock or k&n cleaner will get me the same points
