So my 83 corolla for some reason just started doing this one day. It will drive fun, rev fine, has all its 90hp. but it wont idle no matter how much I turn up the idle screw, when its cold and choke is on it runs fine. I started looking around and the PCV grommet was missing and the pcv valve was just sitting in the valve cover, so replaced that and it seemed to help a tiny bit but still is having the same problem. Also the car will idle, barly, maybe 500rpms, but when you hit the brakes the car dies. You think the PCV valve is bad, its pulling vacuum through it, I put my finger on it and its sucking. Or do you think the check valve thing in the brake booster line going to the valve cover is bad and causing a vacuum leak? Or is it some other issue? PCV valve is 2 bucks, but thats just a waste of time and what not if its not the problem. I have some carb cleaner, going to spray both the boost and pcv check valves
Ill plug the pcv hose and see if that changes anything, I looked for a vacuum leak but so many lines. so many lines, like 20 foot of vacuum hose in a 1 foot by 1 foot area haha
