I couldn't type the able head job procedure cause it was to long for pm message so it's a little cut up .. I give the job about 5 out of 10 in difficulty it's pretty much taking note of top dead center then just un bolting everything then bolting it all back up ... Defiantly get the one of those book it will walk you right thru it

Lay it down set the head back on take your rocker arm assembly and loosen all the valve adjustment screws so there not touching or forcing against the valve springs pop in the headbolts and torque them in the right order and pattern grab your timing gear and lift up and pull on it to slide it back on the cam . Little Tdc dot facing up then set your valve lash and re assemble and add your fluids .. Sounds like a lot when typed out but really isn't that bad ... The chiton and or Haynes manual

most helpful will be to get the Haynes or chilton manual . It has the torque specs and bits of info that are helpful .
Head gasket jobs not to bad. Put the motor at top dead center remove exhaust manifold coolant and oil unhook everything attached to the head wire hoses and cable .. I like to remove the intak manifold as well but not necessary... zip tie the timing chain to the timing gear and unbolt let it fall and rest inside the timing cover Unbolt the head and clean the block and head surface soak up any fluid that might get into the headbolt holes in the block

890 sounds like a deal if you compare it to chasing down and online orders for parts and machine shop cost on your original stuff . That stuff adds up quick not to mention can make your head spin if your not familiar with engine assembly . As far cheaper parts its a he said she said type deal these motors are pretty forgiving and as long as there assembled right theyll run on any bearing cheap or good ..I've seen a ton of different bearings fail of all types and its always the owner revving the crap out of it . If you do t yourself get the engnbldr.com rebuild kit it's a full rebuild kit with good parts . Holla f you got any questions or get stuck

Good deal least you got it handled .. Head gasket no big deal no wires to deal with ha .. Just take your time and keep the head surface and block clean ..as a whistle apon re assembly I'm a fan of using oem head gaskets the quality shows .. I've had trouble out of rock auto and felpro ..but that might just be me ....holla

Actually, I wanna restate what I said about the rear end. It's pretty soft and smooth.
When I took my bed off last week... that.. was a bouncy uncomfortable ride. I honestly think that after I removed the bumpstops and all that jazz, the ride was just smooth (so every bump doesnt slam the axle into the frame lol)

the roof is kinda weak on theses trucks, just dont mount it in towards the center you want it close to the pillars.
