No worry dude. Once this is all done and you get the truck running good, youll enjoy beating the **** out of it. Also this is one of the major maintaince that needs to be done, so after this your truck should be good to go for a while. I just did my timing chain as well, and driving it is way more fun now. Should have used the money when i had it to do a tune up and buy plugs to plug the vaccum lines, but live and learn. Gotta wait till friday when i get paid so i can buy the stuffs, but once thats done, my truck going be running good and i wont have to worry for a while. In the end it will be all worth it.

The timing chain cover can be removed without taking off the head
And when you put it back on you need to remove the oil pump so you'll have enough clearance to not mangle the head gasket when reinstalling...

Just did this on my 22rte

Now that it's cut you need to replace it...

yea i went and picked up a head gasket after class today.



ON TO THE BAD NEWS!!
pulled the head off yet again and took the timing cover off to come to the realization that i made a huge HUGE ass mistake. my new chain is way kinked and a link or two is broken. the crankshaft gear is missing like 7 teeth. and when it binded everything up it also ate part of the timing cover.

im uploading pics of the damage so bare with me. man one little mistake got ugly real fast.

but thats my life. i tend to do things the hard way. i blame it on the rush to get it out of the garage and the simple fact that i wanted it done and over with because i really didnt want to work on it in the first place
