So as Ive been a member for a while I feel it may be time to make a project thread for my Nostalgic HiLux. Ive made some progress on it as of late so ill start it.

Here it was when it first came into my groups possession.

It was being built as a "drift truck" and therefore was ripped apart

Derrick traded a Hachi Roku that he picked up for $200 for it and drove it as is for a while until I helped him scope some wheels. On go my old D2's.

After that nothing was done to it till a complicated trade brought it to my possession not running due to a retarded ignition issue. I took to cleaning it once here.

After that it sat for a while and I did a few things I didn't document. Began a battery relocation, tuck, and found some rust. I also cleaned up the headlight surrounds, re-painted the backing and began prepping for a re-wire of most of the headlight wiring.

The it was on to the Sparco bucket that was welded to the floor. After grinding for hours on all the bloody little spot welds I finnaly resorted to kicking it out lol, that did it!

    :waytogo:

After wandering a junk yard i found a bench from a 79', soon ill get the tabs on the seat modified to fit the stock locations of the 76'.

Then it was onto the most important part! The JDM fender mirrors!

After that I just finished my custom headliner
    [IMG]

Heres what Im dealing with for the interior, many plans!

    UPDATE

Little update, got out to a junkyard yesterday in Denver that had a 78 sitting on the lot. When I got there I was surprised to find that it still had all of its bits in relativily good condition so I came home with a lot of really good stuff.

    -Chrome Headlight Bezzels
-New steering column with wheel to replace the chopped one.
    -All the badging, very excited!
    -The swiveling interior vents
    -and a brown dash pad

Got everything cleaned up last night, pictures to follow later!

    What I still need:

-Center climate control and sterio panel
    -Tailgate
    -Side draft 20r manifold

    UPDATE 2/23

A little update for my truck who I have now named "Hiro". All the bits are now on or in the truck including a MINT center climate control panel. I also got a mani and linkage for the side drafts from LCE. Problem is im not sure how to hook up the linkage so if somebody has some pictures they would like to donate that would be sweet.

Also the center panel came with no guts. No sterio bracket, controls or anything! Any help would be greatly appreciated they are damn near impossible to find. Also after installing it I feel there may be something wrong with my wiper switch, it wont stay in place for anything.

A few loose ends I need to tie up.

    1) Ignition wiring. Now that I have a new key for the new steering consol.

    2) Headlights and Hi Beams. Anyone run HID's or H4's?

    3) I NEED A DAMN TAILGATE!

    Pictures soon!

me me me! i have parts and H4s! lol. the ones i ran i had to modify the housings to fit (little grinding on the backside...but its a fiberglass housing) and had to trim into the core support. wiring was easy. just plugged into my wiring. i ran their high wattage bulbs it came with. much better than it was. i still need to run a jumper wire to have 4 low beams. probably going to run relays for the lights to take away the voltage drop the bulbs get.

i also have a few extra wiper switches and have had these dashes apart a few times. what all do you need? a few screws hold the plastic panel in, each switch just mounts to that. i dont have braces or anything else in there. i also ran an extra wiper switch to act as the keyed power source for my stereo, i tee'd off my main power feed to it. its a simple install that way. leaves factory wiring alone.

let me know what you need, and ill see what i have.

I have two... and if I buy this parts truck I'm looking at, I'll have three.

I *may* be persuaded to part with one, but I haven't decided yet. I am not even sure shipping from Seattle would even make a free one worth it to you.

But you can keep me in mind if you start to get *really* desperate for one.

    Ok, pictures as promised.

Got the yellow hi-beams done, refurbed the badge a little, and no my hood isnt closed :p

Better shot, also for SB. We were talking about converting over to H4's and I got to thinking that I already have after market lights and wont have to modify the housings too much.

The inside is really coming together but still needs a ton of work.

Also for SB, when I say there was no guts I wasn't exaggerating lol. No idea what that disgusting mark is but it wont come off...

I also want to ditch these L.E.D markers and get the stock ones again. Again, if someones got a set, lemme know.

ahh...i see. heres what to do if you find a parts truck locally, so you know how to take it apart. unplug both switches and the light socket. pull the screws holding the plastic in. then trace each of the 4 cables the climate control attaches to. they are all about 12-18" so its not hard to trace. unclip them at the far end, where the stop. then it should all come out. pull the slider knobs off by pulling, and then its like 2 or 3 nuts that take the setup out. the switches are a pain unless you have/make the little tool to remove them. but if you find a complete setup on a good plastic panel by all means dont tear it up. and that square can be cut out and a late model clock setup installed.

Do it! These came off Ebay, it helps if you search RN**, I had most luck with RN20. Although I've also seen a few on bidjdm.com under the same search parameters.

I LOVE my Ruck' I would flip **** if it ever got stolen! Knock on wood there's not much of a thieving problem here. If I go anywhere were I can't watch it I usually drag my big ass lock around and make my visit snappy. My buddy actually has a Prop Lock for his lol.

The Honda Ruckus is about the coolest scoot ever created, fun, releativily cheap, effective, and best of all it highly modifiable! They look quite a bit different in stock trim. The 09's will do a good 40mph. Zippy, but your not getting on any highways haha! I've got just about a 1000 miles on mine that I did this past summer, after adding it up I think I spent $30 in gas haha. The plan is to adventually tool around with this in the back of the HiLux.
