I'm in the middle of a tune up..02 sensor,coil,cap,rotor,wires,plugs...My truck has been having some hesitating issues and not wanting to start, and when it did it was loping like a big block. After a couple minutes it would smooth out..I found one of my spark plug wires broken. So now i pulled the plugs and this is what I found on #4...Does this mean my rings are worn letting oil into the combustion chamber? here are some pics of all cylinders and the plugs they are all in order
one more of plug #4 one more thing, i did a complete top end rebuild about 3 years ago with new valve stem seals, so more than likely it is the rings right?
i think i figured it out..can someone please verify on a 22re, but is there supposed to be a bolt right there where the red line is??? Cuz i don't have one
Plugs look fine to me... The oil on the head is more than likely coming from the half moon grommet under the valve cover gasket, I'm 99.9% sure... Nothing to worry about, just pull it up and put some RTV between the half moon and the head. That hole in the last pic is leftover thread from the EGR plate on back of the head, nothing to worry about aswell...
damn i was hoping it was that bolt...I did check the back of the valve cover(half moon) and its completely dry it just seems to be that corner
That plate only holds exhaust air and coolant... The only way to get oil in that spot is valve cover/half moon or worst case head gasket...
yea...... plugs actually look good. oil is coming from elsewhere. change the plugs, do the tune up and see where it gets you. report back on your end results.
