Dang man that sucks. Down here in hawaii the mini trucking scene doesnt get hassled to much. With the recent amount of speeding caused deaths, and the closure of our only racetrack, police have been cracking down more on imports.
They also been cracking down on lifted trucks. We have something called Recon(reconstruction permit) which limits bumper heights and rim widths, drop limits, etc. Running 15x18s and15x20s aint so cool anymore to cops

What do they say they pulled you over for?

I would start getting car numbers, badge numbers, & officer names. If you feel you've been harassed for no reason more than once by the same officer, you can file charges against him/her. I can understand if you were doing something wrong, but if you're not thats not right.

I've also found that you are more likely to get pulled over with primer spots or with primered/flat paint. Everytime I get stopped its pretty legit. My tint is too dark. But if people wouldn't steal my stuff I wouldn't tint it so dark.

Are they giving you tickets when they pull you over or are they just stopping you to give you ****?? if they are just giving you **** then start by getting the cops name, badge # & document the incident. after you get several times
documented then go see your local solicitor or the person that is over the traffic division & tell then that your being harrassed & if it continues you will have to hire an attorney. I had that same **** happen to me a few years ago & thats how I solved the problem!

I used to have a set of these for my license plate lights and cops would pull me over all time for them.

The first cop said they were projecting on the ground too much, second said they were too blue and one cop said they were too dim. :looney:

I never got a ticket but after getting pulled over for the 6th time for license plate lights, I changed them.

I used to have a black 92 that was lowered a bit. All the windows and lights were tinted and the cops pulled me every so often to verbally tell me it wasn't allowed. And once because one of my two plate light bulbs was out. Which is still lit. But the only tickets I get are speeding. Try just use it to check me out I guess. They must think I'm cute.

Had a few exhaust pulls though. One rookie chick pulled me over for for exhaust becuase of the sound it makes letting off, that low back pressure low rpm gargle. I told her the entire system was 6 months old and offered her a flashlight to look. And explained to her the sound it makes and why. She got confused and left.

I'm not against cops. I just think sometimes they should be more concerned with things than plate lights being LED or exhaust tone. State patrol is one thing but local cops have other things they can be checking out. I admit guilt on the speed tickets though :D just not to them. Haha.

I've never been pulled over in my truck, been looked plenty of times, though. I don't have license plate lights or a rear bumper. Idaho is great when it comes to some of those laws. If it came from the factory like that, they can't tell you to add it or remove it.

The only time I've seen someone pulled over is for riding too low in back. They say the license plate has to be 12" off the ground when moving. Which is kind of stupid cause if you have your plate custom mounted high in the tailgate its already 12" off the ground even if you're layed out.

Sheriff's been cool with me, WPD are somewhat cool, then Joplin PD just harassed me....

cept one of the old JPD's liked my truck, then one younger guy made a joke on the VIP plate about VIP parking.

yeah, in washington there are minimum heights for plates. and lights. my rear reflectors are at the minimum, the tails are about half inch above the minimum, plates are at 8" and 10" is and my headlights are 2" too low. but i have yet to get stopped for that. i guess its not as much of a problem for the older body styles, especially without flashy wheels and tinted windows. because my 78 sure as hell is loud and quick. :D

a good friend of mine is a retired mesa pd officer. he told me they used profile stops all the time. if you drove a cutlass or any similar low rider vehicle...you get pulled over. they would spot the cars, and follow until an infraction occurs, then pull the vehicle over.

but at the same time he refers to my s-10 as a rolling warrant, and i have yet to be pulled over and harassed. i've been pulled over one time.... i was doing 70 in a 45 zone, and the officer just gave me a warning. and that was driving without a bed, and my caddy lights zip tied to the frame. i do get followed pretty much every time a cop comes up behind me, but only long enough to run the plates, then they pass.

so i guess it just depends on where ya live. i was actually followed by border patrol once as well. i stuck my arm out the window, and they immediately passed!

when they follow me, my strategy is either pull into the nearest minimart if im worried about something. but not erratically. or i do about 4 under the limit, and put it in 5th. so they dont hear my slightly loud exhaust. :D

They also use the high crime area's to pull people over. I do armed outside security. I used to work for Budget Suites. Ghetto baby, ghetto. They would set up on the small outside road, and just about everybody that rolled around the back of the building, out of there line of sight, was getting pulled over. Reason known drug area. I can't say anything against it as it made my job alot easier and safer. I lost count of the amount of people they arrested and the amount of cars that got towed. The funny part was it took them 8 months of doing this, all most every other Friday and Saturday, for the flow of cars to quit coming when they saw the unmarked police cars on the road. Only then did they finally raid the 2 big dealers that had rooms there.

The other funny part was that in the begining it was so bad they would have 3 or 4 cars waiting tows, and the people sitting on the curb waiting for the wagon to take them to county. And the patrol cars were still busy pulling people over. The people coming in saw all this and they continued around back, then they got pulled over and taken to jail. Seriously

So it could also be the area you are driving in

I guess florida is different then every other state because cops around here dont harass people for stupid sh1t. I cant even tell you when the last time Ive heard of anyone getting a ticket for no lights on their tag or tint too dark.. I have 2 layers of limo all the way around my truck and the windshield is tinted as well.. I drive 15k miles or more a year and never had anything said to me ( KNOCK ON WOOD). also when I painted my yota I shaved the bumper and i drove around for 3 months with my tag in my passenger seat before getting pulled over, obviously they do not care about no tag lights.... IDK maybe I am lucky ? Probably most of you that get pulled over did something to atract attention to yourself, and if you have something illegal on your truck that is a legit excuse for a cop to pull you over.. I highly doubt people get pulled over for absolutley no reason... cops get in trouble for that, and why would they wanna risk their jobs for a chance to bust someone for a joint or something small like that....

But for the most part, if you say cops profile, then think that.. if it bothers you go buy a grandmothers car, or a luxury car... maybe if you drive something a little less "sketchy" looking you wont get pulled over.
