    I want pics too.

Today in my quest to get rid of the shudder my truck has I am replacing the carrier bearing and trans mount. I had to order them from Toyota, not cheap!

I plan to have this truck for along time so I don't want to cheap out on relacement parts.

The beauty of having lots of cars is that the truck can sit on jackstands until I get parts.

After this step is done I am going to convert the AC to R134.

    It never ends...

Today I swapped out the crappy shocks that were on the truck for the KYB Gas adjust shocks.

I can't drive it because I am waiting for the new carrier bearing, trans mount and U joints, Maybe next week...

    Thanks,

Slowly but surely it will be nice. I keep finding new things that need work. As my wife pointed out to me "thats why you bought it" and she is right.

I yanked out the lower part of the dash and the rest of the interior today to install the stereo and new carpet.

I started installing the new carpet but it got dark before I got any pics. The stereo should be here tomorrow. I am looking forward to driving this thing.

I got the stereo and the new carpet installed and the interior back in yesterday. Pretty much took all day to get it done.

I soldered and shrink wrapped all of the wires for the stereo. I ended up with a Pioneer DEH 5000 cd player with an Ipod jack and a couple of USB ports and some Boston acoustics 4" speakes in the dash to go with the 6 1'2 infinitys in the back. No amp or sub yet but it sounds good!

I have been looking for some Bullit mustang wheels for a while now. My plan was to do 17x8 wheels and 225x45x17 tires. I found these on Craigslist today.
They are 18x8.5 and came with 2 255x50x18 BFG G force TA kdws tires in great condition.

I am going to need some spacers, I am not sure how thick yet. The offset is 50mm so I am thinking I need at least half an inch.

I may sell these tires and do 235x45x18 tires all the way around.

The KYB shocks made a big difference in the handling even with the 205x75x14 inch tires. I can't wait to get the anti sway bars and bigger tires on it. This thing is going to be fun.

I changed the carrier bearing and trans mount but I am still getting the shudder in reverse. I may end up rebuilding this trans unless I can find the parts for a 5 speed swap.

    Thats it for now.

I see your truck is automatic also...

    shudder in reverse?

When i put my truck into reverse (0 mph), it doesn't shudder but the RPM's drop (whenever i'm in gear it drops lower... load). When i give it light gas, the truck would noticably shake, especially my bed... that thing shakes like a mofo. I think it's probably lack of weight in the rear? but i'm unsure. I just removed my middle leaf springs today.. i'll see how it feels.. still... torqueing bolts... at 12AM..... GAWH

All I've got to say is... DAMN!!!:jawdrop:

Even without the spacers it looks great! Can't wait to see more.

Question... are you going to paint over the Mustang center cap? I've seen Ford owners out here who would key a Toyota with Mustang rims and steal the rims.

Nice job! Its nice to see someone who installs the headunit the right way instead of hacking up the dash. Thats what the previous owner did to mine, I had to replace that part of the dash.

    Thanks guys.

Good idea painting the caps, I hadn't thought of that.

I have had a few trucks with hacked dashes and I hate that, clean is good.

I am really starting to like this truck.

    No prob!

...I have a hacked radio surround, my fault, gonna get a new one at a junkyard.

    Everything looks great bro!:waytogo:

One suggestion though, I'd get an SR5 cluster... I am planning to do that for my '88 and ditch the cheap Autogage tach I've got.
