Awesome, thanks! I will if I have any questions. The parts are expected Saturday. I'm really hoping I don't have to find new calipers.
I got the calipers done today. Went pretty smoothly, except for the one on the inside drivers caliper that was stuck. The front passenger still locks, but I'm blaming the rotor having more groves than a record on the inside. Figured out the clunking when coasting, turns out its the carrier bearing for the drive shaft. Found a guy selling the whole drive shaft, so I'm going to pick that up next weekend. Also the drive shaft that is currently in my truck is from. An 83 toyota pickup so I had to do some creative/sketchy mounting of the carrier bearing to get it to work, but the bishimg on it it shot so, yeah. But over all I'm happy with how far its come in the last couple weeks.
Next question: Will the third member from a 92ish truck with 3.583 gears fit in my axle housing as a direct fit?
I was wrong about the cluncking. Turns out all of my rear lugnuts were loose. Torqued them up and a blast around the block and no more clunking. Side note: I picked up a complete driveshaft from a dolphin, and it fits! Also picked up an original steel fan shroud, the wiper linkage, and a fender marker light along with the drive shafts, all for $80. I was super stoked! I'm gonna drive her to work tomorrow! I'll let y'all know how it goes.
Thanks bud! Right now I'm trying to find an axle with 3.58 gears. These 4.10s are way too short. I just found a few of y'all on IG. I'll be posting progress on there as well I'm 78hilux
eBay has been the best pricing on used differentials that I've found. Curious to see your results of the re-gearing, I've been thinking about doing it to my truck but couldn't decide between 3.73 and 3.58
@Perkolator The 4.10 gears are away too short. I'm curious to see the difference as well. Plus the speedo will read right.
