Swapped some fittings earlier and i aired it all the way up with random Tees and a ball valve and so far its been holding pressure. Got the front shocks mounted up, air lines to front clamped in place and the air management rack finished up. Il be painting it tomorrow and putting some bed floor back in where im mounting it.
Can't see the pics but I'm hoping you have a ball valve in between the driver and passenger rear bags. you'll get some crazy body roll if you don't seperate the two. I did this on my old 92 when testing my bags before the air management was installed. I would take a turn and the opposite air bag would act like a reservoir. Loving your progress by the way
What i have on it is temporary just to move it around if need be. I have a Slam Specialties manifold im going to be running, just need some more odds and ends before i can get it to all function
Got the exhaust done today. Was nice hearing it run again and somehow be a little quieter even though the only change is the header. had a small mishap, forgot to tighten one of the hose clamps from the pump to the fuel filter and spewed a shitload of gas all in the garage. Oh well
Got the air management set up on the rack and wired up. Tested everything, it works, had a fun time wiring the manifold to the controller. Im going to have to dissassemble the manifold at some point because theres a slow leak and it sounds like its possibly coming from there. il take and post a good video later
Pulled the manifold last night cleaned it out. Didnt see anything alarming other than 1 wire that was pinched (and showing some strands) between the solenoids and manifold block. Taped it up since i know its not broken and carefully reassembled it making sure not to pinch any wires. Im going to reinstall today and test it all again. We'll see what happens
Bench tested the manifold with my 3gal compressor and theres no sound of a leak. Pressurized the tank and also no leaky hiss either. Hoping its actually fixed, the pinched wire may have been causing the leak depending what it was caught between. Il reassemble hopefully tomorrow and test it all together and see what happens
Leak is still present. Moving on from it for now. Started working on the cab floor. Ran out of shielding gas and im having to wait til they restock on cylinders so im at a standstill lol
PTC. Ive already checked all those and only a couple are leaking. But the leak im hearing sounds like its close to the tank. I still need to switch the check valves and see if its those.
So the viair check valves were shot. I swapped them on friday. Pressurized the tank yesterday and today its still holding the same pressure i left it at last night and theres no hissing at the tank. Got the interior back in almost completely. Il get some pics up later
Drove it out of the garage to get some sunlight earlier. Snapped a couple pictures while i had it out. Aso had a buddy pick up a tailgate from the junkyard for me over the weekend. Really considering having it media blasted and clear coat the bare metal
Felt nice to move it out like normal. I literally just backed it out of the garage and parked it. Cant actually take it out on the road yet til i fully burp the cooling system. Should be taking care of that today
Great find on the tailgate! I say F*ck it and rock the OG paint, VW harlequin style! I have red, orange and primer panels on my rig. LoL
No lie primer, flat/satin black or bare metal are the only other "color" il have in the mix with the original color. The blue is way too off.
Chopped out the fuel filler opening along with a nice hole my buddy made with the plasma cutter when we were cutting the tubs out earlier this year. Not the best finish but after body work it should be just fine
