So I purchased a 91 Hilux (2wd) and the headers it had installed are for 4wd. The piping is sitting below the body and its stopping me from lowering my truck (which I can't wait to do). Would i be able to bend the piping to achieve a better angle? If yes, what would be the best way to do this.

(Also the way it's sitting the piping taps on the torsion bar when the truck is running)

    Any help is greatly appreciated

20201016_104409.jpg this is the exhaust that was on it when I purchased the truck. I have since swapped it out with a flowmaster 40 but because of the angle from the headers I'm still having the same issue

If you have access to a welder just buy flanges and tubing from Summit and redo it otherwise take it to a shop and have it redone.

    Or get the proper header

    O
Okay. Thank you for the reply! I just wasn't sure if cutting, bending, and re welding would cause issues. I'm still a noob lol

    ***UPDATE***

Scored some Hedman shorty's for $40 and slapped those on. I'll be able to tuck the exhaust/exhaust piping soon after I get more parts.

Solid, Herman's not bad. American made. Looked over this post once and thought the hole system could use a touch up. On the right track. Definitely replace that muffler. I looks to be off a Harley or something. If you need hangers you can find some for 3 dollars a piece off Amazon by Walker. You might find them at your local autoparts store as well. If you get those I suggest welding a nut to the body that you bolt the hangers to. Otherwise you might fight to get the exhaust off in the future. Oh and get a flex joint if you don't have one you can reuse. Might save you from cracking the new header.

Thank you for the help! Definitely gonna take that rocket launcher off and put a flowmaster 40 on tomorrow if everything goes according to plan. I'll post updates if it goes well.

Dont go with flowmaster. Does nothing for the horrible sound these engines make. Something like a magnaflow will sound way better

The Flowmasters can sound good if you have a big cam built motor. I did hear one with a vibrant resonator that I really liked. Had a good honda like note.

I have a 292 cam at the moment. How would that work with a flowmaster. I was also recommended to just get one of those thrush mufflers at Napa since I'm just building a daily with slight performance

Not exactly sure. The thrush will be the better way to go for the daily.

Personally ive ran thrush glasspacks in the past and they sounded good. My current setup is a Cherry Bomb turbo muffler and i like how it broke in over the years

Hell if you already have the flowmaster just clamp it in and run it. If you dont like it, swapping it shouldnt be hard because clamps

    **Update**

Got the flowmaster on. I'll post pics tomorrow. Might lower the front via torsion if the weather permits. Definitely wasn't fun getting rained on while doing the exhaust today :rolleyes2:. Tried sourcing that braided flex joint but had no luck locally. Might have to order online :brickknock:

It's got a slight rasp to it but it still sounds nice. Definitely alot quieter than that cannon that was on it when I bought the truck .

Gonna run it for a bit. After I get my A/C fixed I may consider switching out the flowmaster for something a bit more aggressive. Thrush glasspack perhaps
