Whoa! Didn't see that coming! I'm curious to see the end result when you replace the plastic bits! I've had the idea of having the knobs for the headlights/hazards machined out of metal! Something like this would be pretty neat.
You and me both. Im going to attack it this weekend and hopefully get it all put back together and cleaned up. As far as the knobs go, i actually want to get some laminated teardrop knobs. Gotta find someone who makes them, i dont really care for the ones mooneyes has.
took 2 weekends but the rear is done, still need to mount the air management, wire, plumb and then attack the front. Still not sure what il be doing for the bed floor but for now its got a giant hole.
So I’m in the process of installing my hub but once the hub makes contact with the column you horn goes off. Why is that?
On mine if i remember right i had to adjust the contact on the column. Honestly cant remember tho. Its been a while
Alright so i havent updated this since the whole "Safer at home" order went into place in Cali. But ive been slowly chugging away on the front suspension, focusing on the driver side. Heres some of the progress Front end stripped, hood has been pulled off since this pic Spring pockets chopped out and bag brackets welded in. Dominator 2500 bags. And yes ive cleaned up a lot of the crud thats on the control arms, shit was nasty. Now at that point i was able to get the wheel to tuck up about this much, still needed another 4" to be at the height that the bottom of the frame was at. then i studied a few other peoples builds and decided to mod the LCA balljoint mount. Practiced on a spare control arm i have was able to raise the BJ 1.5" from the factory point. Still need to fishplate and reinforce it. I also had to pie cut the UCA to keep the upper BJ From binding up so quickly, yes it sacrificed lift BUT i really dont need too much. I didnt take a pic of what i did but heres an example I used to mod mine. Heres a shot before the control arm mods Hers the after. It tucked up over 2" more This is pretty much where im at now. Im waiting on some lower shock bushing replacements so i can finish the shock relocation. Got to finish weld everything that isnt done yet and plate up a few spots. After that il be moving on to the passenger side and replicating everything. After that il be on to the next stage which will be Z'ing the front clip to get the frame to lay completely flat and dealing with whatever challenges that brings me.

Cant really expect them all to unless you're a master. Even then its hard to get right. Especially with different joints styles. I'm sure the bad ones look better then anybody's welds that said mig is easy.
Small update. Got the truck on the ground a while back. Its actually back on jackstands now to pull the engine for the Z. Theres still sunlight visible Between chassis and ground. Its resting on the leaf spring hangars and the front subframe. Thats all getting addressed soon
A little more progress, got the engine and trans pulled yesterday. Going to take some time to clean the engine bay as well as the engine and trans before i start cutting the frame. Il be changing out some seals while im at it. Valve cover has been leaking all over the fckin place so thats first up. Il probably rework my trans crossmember AGAIN while its out too.
